Welcome to the Irish Colleges Golf Association website.
The ICGA is in place to encourage competitive golfers to continue to practice and pursue their chosen sport while in College and University. The ICGA offers these young golfers the opportunity to play golf to a very high standard while pursuing their studies. The ICGA operates two main events during the academic year. The ICGA Inter-varsity Championship and the ICGA Inter-varsity League. Universities and Colleges from throughout the entire island of Ireland compete in the ICGA intervarsity events. The ICGA inter-varsity championship has been around in some form for almost 100 years. The championship crowns the individual strokeplay champion, men and ladies. Played over two days. There is also a team element to the event. ICGA Inter-varsity League Finals will take place at Glasson Golf Hotel and Country Club Monday and Tuesday 2nd and 3rd April 2012 (The top two teams from each group qualify)
The ICGA Inter-varsity League competition is scratch match-play. Played throughout the academic year, teams are divided into regional groups, with the qualifiers involved in a national play-off. The Premier League consists of teams of 5 players. Sligo IT and Dundalk IT have joined the Premier League this year. This brings the number of teams in the Premier division to 14. Lets play golf The ICGA Inter-varsity Shield is organised on a similar basis to the Premier League for teams of three players. Ideally suited to those universities and colleges that may wish to offer additional opportunities to players and for those univeristies and colleges that may not have a big pool of players. Participation in the leagues is open to men and ladies.
